Users, vehicles, and organizations are the foundation of the c.technology platform, providing the multi-tenant structure that enables different types of entities to manage their vehicles, users, and data independently.
This guide covers the complete process of organization creation, configuration, and ongoing management.
Organizations represent different types of entities, usually everything that has a legal business representation and / or consists of multiple users and vehicles:
- OEMs: Vehicle manufacturers who produce and sell vehicles equipped with c.technology systems.
- Professional partners: Dealers, service providers, and fleet operators who serve vehicle owners.
Users can either “just” be individual vehicle owners or belong to an organization that manages multiple vehicles and users.
Being part of an organization enables individual users to access the organization’s vehicles based on the transitive permissions thus given.
While users can be part of organizations, they often also just interact with those (e.g., vehicle owners interacting with a dealer organization), as visualized below:
Similarly, vehicles can either be owned by individual users or belong to one or more organizations that manage them.
Organization creation
Currently, you must contact support@ctechnology.io to create a new organization.
In the future, self-service organization creation will be available.
We will set up an organization for you and add you as an administrator.
Note that organization creation requires a business relationship in every case, as it involves billing, security, and access control setup.
You can find the different subscription types and pricing on ctechnology.io.
When contacting c.technology, please specify your organization type to ensure proper configuration:
- OEM: If you are a vehicle manufacturer producing vehicles with c.technology systems.
- Professional: If you are a dealer, service provider, or fleet operator serving vehicle owners.
Upon organization creation, you should create an API key for programmatic access to the platform.
You can do this in the DEVELOPER
section of the c.technology web app after logging in.
The API key is required for many of the processes described in this documentation, though for several endpoints, you can also use user authentication tokens.
